Toothless Fan-Made Plush
Please note: I DID NOT CREATE THE PATTERN FOR THIS PLUSH, therefore I cannot take credit for it's design. The pattern was created by Katy-A on DeviantArt; I only modified it a bit to make the plush MUCH larger and change some things I didn't care for in the original design.
So, with that out of the way, here's my oversized Toothless plush. I've been working on him for a about a week now in between other projects. I made this Toothless for myself because the only plush available on the market is not only hard to find but is kinda ugly. There are no "cute" varieties of plush available, so I made my own. His "skin" is a variety of "cuddle fleece," which more closely resembles a VERY soft terry cloth fabric. It's difficult to work with as it's a loosely-woven flexible fabric that is prone to holes. It's such a lovely black though- it shows up as blue-black in certain light! His feet and tail tip are weighted with poly-pellets and the rest of him is densely packed with cluster-stuff. The eyes are just embroidered fleece in a lovely yellow-green that I happened to have a small piece of.
All in all I think he came out great. He's very soft and snuggly and I'm pleased with him. I think he's going to start coming to cons with me.

Sure. It's a LOT smaller though- the original pattern is only about 20" long, including tail, where as mine is over 32" including tail. Pattern and instructions are here: http://katy-a.deviantart.com/art/Ho.....agon-161986356
I'll warn you, it's a little hard to follow in places.

It's not just that I'm worried about a flood of orders. It's mostly because I did not create this pattern, therefore I technically don't have the rights to resell any of the plushes I make from it. The maker of the pattern specifically asked that the plush not be sold. I would be violating her copyright if I did so, which would NOT be fair to her, as she figured out the pattern and did most of the really hard work. I would hate it if it was done to me.
I'm currently trying to discuss a deal with her about splitting profits though, so we'll see.

eeeeee So cute! I saw the original one Katy made and looove it, the modifications you made on the feet are adorable too, though.
My friend really wants one of these... her girlfriend and brother are trying to bribe me to make her one with Katy's pattern. XD Was it difficult to work with? I'll be making modifications for sure, but is the head super hard?

I bought one of the Build a Bear plush. They actually look nothing like my custom made plush at all. The positions are different (sitting vs standling/laying), the face is VERY different, and the head fins/ears on the Build a Bear plush are tiny and ridiculous. My custom plush is MUCH more accurate to the character.
But wait until you see my newest custom plush. It's going to look even better than this.
