Spiders are cool. I was wondering why they weren't used to make furries more often, so I decided to make my own, based on the Greenbottle Blue Tarantula.

Then I started sketching, and I remembered. "Oh. Right. Eight limbs to work with."

Still, I'm kinda proud of this lady. The Greenbottle Blue Tarantula, a very pretty species of spider, originates from an island in Venezuela, so I looked up girl names popular in that area. I've decided to name her Ana Lucia. She's kind and warm and nurturing, but also incredibly shy and skittish.

This was done with Arteza Everblend Markers and Derwent Coloursoft Pencils on toned paper. I added white gel pen here and there, and also put a web in the background for extra interest, but then I learned that tarantulas don't make webs. They still make spider silk, but that's not how they catch their prey. So please ignore that bit of false advertising.
