Yes, it's been (JUST over) eight years. We're working on it and we'll have more news on the launch soon, and there will likely be at least one alternate place for the comic besides FA. I figure we should apologize in advance for the title that, when this was originally created, the political climate was a bit different and Russia wasn't quite as...taboo as it is now.
But hopefully this explains why it's been so long. What started as a sort of in-joke ("What if James Bond were gay?") has evolved under Dev's pen into a full spy thriller. Much of the i.s.o. cast returns, as do many of the Class Menagerie alumni. As for what's going to happen, well, this image is designed to homage those classic James Bond posters (especially from the Roger Moore era) with lots of out of context spoilers, where really nothing is scaled by importance nor in chronological order, so you get a taste of what's to come without knowing when or how much you'll see it. You can see a handful of new characters, this world's equivalent of Las Vegas, spy drones, a floating airship, a T-86 Kombat SUV, a digitized Nate, and...Drake the dragon, who is now canon thanks to teh hubby's background in genetics. One of the mysterious silhouettes shown here is revealed as one of Vlad's counterparts from his KGB roots, but the other two by the fountain are still purposely under wraps. And I honestly didn't realize the cast was that heavy on felines until I had them all collected here...at least many of them are Cody's family, so it makes sense!
So! The first page is basically up as a preview, but it's not quite a full scale launch YET...
P.S. I swear it was unintentional that the beam of light from the "Luxor" casino is right above the LUST. The title was originally organized differently, and then I decided I wanted the "WITH" under the "Stratosphere"...

It'll be great to know the new character, as well as seeing the familiar characters. Cool! Drake will be here too. He was one guy I was wanting to see in ISO. I still love Thor.
I just hope that there will be plenty of shirtless action throughout too. And a certain weasel too.

Y'know, shortly after I finished reading i.s.o., I stumbled across your FA account, and to my delight, found "From Russia with Lust." I was a bit disappointed to find that it wasn't complete like iso was, but I figured it'd get done when it got done. And dude, this looks like it's going to be *quite* the epic! I look forward to it even more now! :D
Random notes:
-Todd looks adorable all scared like that, while Cody appears to be regaining his former gruffness, but that's fitting/justified, considering the new scenario he's been thrown into.
-The panther guy is HOT. Course, that's the norm for panthers anyway. In fact, you look like you've really been cranking out a lot of DILFs for this project. ;D Cody's dad certainly has taken a level in hotness!
-The white cat-lady... why do I get the feeling she's going to cross paths with Kevin? Or maybe that's just me wanting to see how that'd go... Also... is she supposed to be feeling Vlad's junk? XD
-Speaking of both Kevin and DILFs... I know he's supposed to be still in his 20s... but the way how his face looks right here... Kevin looks like a Hot Daddy here. ;D ROFL, I'll bet you never would have expected anybody to say that about Kev, huh? But he really does look like a handsome sophisticated older gentleman/cat... Heh, Roger was already of the opinion that Kevin is the hottest of all of Mikey's ex-floormates, so if he saw the housecat now... expect another nosebleed.
Brad still looks plenty handsome too, though that's the same for all the other guys too. And it's nice to finally get a colored version of "grown up" Mikey. So his goatee is white, and his 'hair' is the same as the rest of his fur? I'll definitely be keeping that in mind for future fanart. x3
Cindy looks *beautiful*; gorgeous hair and those goggles... and Lisa looks as chipper as ever. :D And Sam also looks gorgeous with her hair like that.

Heh, cool how you ended up there. I actually had no idea what the long-term FRWL script was going to be myself, so it was really cool to find out teh hubby integrated so much of the comic world into it.
FWIW I imagine Cody and Todd may have a professional relationship after this comic. They both need jobs suited to them, and we came up with something physical for them both.
It's James Bond, he's supposed to be hot! Still MOSTLY going by the Pierce Brosnan model, we agreed he's probably the most overall well-rounded in hotness (face vs body). And if I had known Cody's father would be used more, I definitely would've made him hotter in the original i.s.o. pages ^ ^;;
Not much comment on the cat-lady yet. The hand gesture is intended to be innocent-looking with a definitely more devious visual overlap
No. No, I was not expecting that about Kevin. There were a ton of Kevin fans (often Kevin/Brad shippers) back in the day, but for various reasons I just can't see it. But kudos if that floats your boat! Brad actually will have some redesigns not visible here, for various reasons as well.
Been trying to figure out how hair and hair color works...I've been assuming Mikey keeps his hair low maintenance, but the beard was kinda necessary to actually keep him looking like the right age. I kinda figured he's one of those guys incapable of growing a full one, so I left it white, but ya never know.
My very very underdeveloped female interest did quite latch onto the "hot librarian" type, so Cindy was always intended to have that look XD
I actually had to research what current female hairstyles were for Sam, and oddly that haircut is apparently quite popular for female barmaids on my Google search. Quite glad I ditched the old hair, honestly. But thankee, always glad to get some, aheh, more straight opinions on how I draw ladies.

When I first read the comic, I was waiting for those two to start making out! ;D Though I'm a little surprised you can't see why people think Kevin is hot: he's fluffy and cuddly (as he himself stated), not to mention he's got a handsome face, cute hair, cool clothes, and he's slim with just the right amount of pudge. Meh, whatever, I guess. I look forward to Brad's new design!
I imagined a scene for my fanfic where Roger is shown photos of Mikey during his high school days when he had a ponytail, and Roger comments that Mikey made the right choice in cutting it off. He hates the ponytail, though the goatee only makes Mikey even hotter to the GSD. Roger loves playing with it - er, the goatee, that is. xD

I did wonder about this...whether it would ever be completed (though obviously there's plenty of good reasons for you to be unable or unwilling to do so, like so many other people these past few years), where the story would go, and yes especially how you would handle the main conceit after the political developments of recent years. Consider me intrigued and hopeful, since I can imagine a number of ways it could go that would be faithful to the genre/source material, make for a fun story with these characters, and still be aware of and careful with real-world issues.
The one problem I might actually have, though (and I can't recall if I mentioned this when you first started FRWL, and I might not have since back then it seemed way more focused on amusing character interactions and sexual innuendo than any of the actual spy stuff) is that I am not much of a fan of spy movies, or James Bond in particular. Not that I have anything against them (their often-problematic tropes and political issues aside), and I have seen several over the years including a few of the newer Bond titles. I just was never really into them either. Which means that while I will surely appreciate the gadgetry, villainous plotting, exciting capers, and whatnot that you and Dev employ, I'm probably going to be just as lost with any shout-outs, references, parodies, etc. to well-known spy/Bond moments as I will be with the majority of the CM references. :/
Not that this will stop me from reading along or overall enjoying the story, just letting you know upfront I will likely miss/not get a number of things, and end up having to ask what they're about, which will likely affect any humor or other enjoyment I might get out of them. But if I know you, the characters and story will make up for that. ^_^
While most of my questions about the characters either are due to forgetting various new ones that appeared in FRWL already or, as stated, not knowing much about CM, I do have to join in in wondering who the handsome, beefy panther is...but I also am afraid I can't identify the feline right under Cody's knee. I am also wondering, if these snapshots represent actual moments in the comic, how in the world Biff will end up on top of the Packard brothers' SUV (or how they even have one!), but it ought to be amusing.
Let me also praise your dynamic action cover, very appropriate for the genre and (as many have stated already) a nice shout-out to the MCU's visual style; us getting to see Tyrone actually flying!; the final canonical appearance of Drake (consider me intrigued here as well); the fact Jeff and Nate will get to have roles; and of course, the absolutely badass and sexy-as-hell return of Karl in his redesigned look.

The one problem I might actually have, though (and I can't recall if I mentioned this when you first started FRWL, and I might not have since back then it seemed way more focused on amusing character interactions and sexual innuendo than any of the actual spy stuff) is that I am not much of a fan of spy movies, or James Bond in particular. Not that I have anything against them (their often-problematic tropes and political issues aside), and I have seen several over the years including a few of the newer Bond titles. I just was never really into them either. Which means that while I will surely appreciate the gadgetry, villainous plotting, exciting capers, and whatnot that you and Dev employ, I'm probably going to be just as lost with any shout-outs, references, parodies, etc. to well-known spy/Bond moments as I will be with the majority of the CM references. :/
Not that this will stop me from reading along or overall enjoying the story, just letting you know upfront I will likely miss/not get a number of things, and end up having to ask what they're about, which will likely affect any humor or other enjoyment I might get out of them. But if I know you, the characters and story will make up for that. ^_^
While most of my questions about the characters either are due to forgetting various new ones that appeared in FRWL already or, as stated, not knowing much about CM, I do have to join in in wondering who the handsome, beefy panther is...but I also am afraid I can't identify the feline right under Cody's knee. I am also wondering, if these snapshots represent actual moments in the comic, how in the world Biff will end up on top of the Packard brothers' SUV (or how they even have one!), but it ought to be amusing.
Let me also praise your dynamic action cover, very appropriate for the genre and (as many have stated already) a nice shout-out to the MCU's visual style; us getting to see Tyrone actually flying!; the final canonical appearance of Drake (consider me intrigued here as well); the fact Jeff and Nate will get to have roles; and of course, the absolutely badass and sexy-as-hell return of Karl in his redesigned look.
Hah, I was too, but again, I'm not writing it, so I had no control over the timeframe. And yyyyeah, Russia will not quite factor into this as much as the title might suggest, but given the James Bond influence, we really couldn't come up with anything that worked as well.
There are going to be a LOT of references, FWIW, but I don't think they're going to be important. More like a character or turn of phrase that is a direct inspiration, and I don't believe you'll need to know the source to get the full plot. And yeah, the movies have their outdated tropes, but I think teh hubby has made a proper update with enough of the i.s.o./CM setting to make it all fit.
The panther is effectively James Bond...who IS a real character in this world, though not quite in the way one would think.
Weirdly you're the only one to ask about the cat under Cody. He had a tiny tiny role in i.s.o. and he'll be important in the later part of the story Maybe I can tell you privately.
And one thing about James Bond movie posters is that they don't always accurately portray the movie, occasionally for unanticipated reasons, so that's intentionally somewhat misleading...Biff won't be stuck on the SUV in quite that way, but it'll make sense later.
And thanks muchly...I guess I don't look at enough MCU posters (not enough teal here ) but I'm glad people like the parallels. It'll be discussed HOW Drake can be canon, and yes, quite a bit more of Karl

Thank ya! I'm glad it was so therapeutic for you. For me, it really did change the trajectory of my life for the better. Honestly, I wouldnt have easily become as confident as i am now at 21 without reading I.S.O back all the way in freshman year of highschool and realizing how unhealthy hiding it would be and how much I would miss if I kept it bottled up into adult-hood! It was actually something I was consistently grateful to that comic for when I would hear about other gays who weren't yet to the point of feeling comfortable coming out when I had already figured it out and was able to do at age 14. It really helped me grow!! I'm excited to see what awesome stuff comes next!!! (honestly I have been wanting to thank you for a long while, sorry it took me so long xD)
