So, my last commission from
Nicole involved upgrading https://www.furaffinity.net/view/36922456/ to a full colour image, because Janin deserved it.
This is actually the sort of fur pattern I had originally envisioned for her, which I've since learned is actually a calico-tabby pattern (caliby) rather than a tortoiseshell-tabby pattern (torby), though apparently calico is sometimes called a 'tortoiseshell and white', which may be where my confusion came from. (Also, most of the other tortoiseshells I've seen were more finely mottled rather than large patches of colour.) I should probably update the story to match.
My family had a cat with this sort of colouring, and a clever and willful cat she was. She once outsmarted my sister's beagle by dashing down into the basement and taking a hard turn on the tile floor... which she knew was slippery and corrected for, but the dog didn't know that and ended up sliding sideways into the downstairs bathroom instead while the cat got away. I think that one incident was a lot of my inspiration for giving Janin that coat pattern. Also, it looks like someone was on the wrong end of a paint can.
Artist's posting at https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38166907/ so go say 'hi' and fave there!

I got the feeling that Janin might've been inspired by the fourlegger gentlewoman cattus who was part of your family when you were younger, she whom you thought might've had some behaviour (if not physical appearance) that had a 'feel' akin to a Siamese puddin'. A clever, conspiratorial mrowp. I know you as Jade was one of the stars of 'Painting The Cathedral' and 'Painting The Sky', but I think in no small way Janin was as much if not more. A ringleader of a positive troupe. ^_^
