A bit macabre, but "Show and Tell", none the less. A "What if?" story, inspired by the idea that Elves could be all around us, and we'd never know.
Several hundred years of interbreeding and genetic drift, and they could look just like us. Oh, and I had a pair of TV characters, specifically in mind, when I wrote this. Cookie to anyone who guesses right.

the overall idea is interesting but if you were going for “showing” I`m afraid it needs a bit more work in that area. The main prolem is that it seems that you are using dialog to explain what the reader is supposed to find out. Though I admit it would be hard to show that unless your audience already knew about fae folk and cold iron. I also became confused at about half way as to who your viewpoint character was. You did well at characterizing the head of crime person.
Agreed, This is basically a one-shot scene, barely long enough to establish what's going on, much less conveny an idea that most readers wouldn't know. *sighs* If I can't figure out how, I'd like to go back, and turn this into a propper story. It's supposed to be third person, from the perspective of the head crime person.
Thanks for the compliment, though
