Ironically this is one of the recipes that led to the creation of FACCC so it was surprising to see it submitted! Just a note- I find that using a different recipe for white cake helps keep this whole cake together. White cake recipe is here- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3313194/ -Oli

This cake. Is. Amazing. Trust me. If you like coffee, or tiramisu you will friggin LOVE This cake. It's a little labor intensive but trust me when I say it is TOTALLY worth the effort. The scent of coffee filling your house as the cake bakes is enough for me, anyway!

I -finally- had a day off to make this, and folks, this is a pretty easy recipe - though its done in a completely different way!
This is Tiramisu Layer Cake, recipe on AllRecipes.com...
CAKE: (not a lie :P)
1 package moist cake mix
1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
1/4 cup coffee
1 tablespoon coffee flavored liqueur (or 1/2 nip) [It's recommended that you double the liqueur and coffee via allrecipes member's comments. Baileys is the best for this :X]
FILLING: 1 container mascarpone cheese*
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
2 tablespoons coffee favored liqueur (the other 1/2 of that same nip)
*Mascarpone cheese you can usually find in specialty Italian markets and some grocery stores- but its also VERY expensive.
The alternative:
2 packages cream cheese
blend with 1/2 cup heavy cream and five tablespoons of sour cream...
Ta da, instant mascarpone cheese :P
FROSTING: To be honest, I had plenty from the cheese...skip this step...but if you like:
2 cups heavy cream
1/4 cup confectioner's sugar
2 tablespoons coffee flavored liqueur
Garnish:
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 oz. square semi-sweet chocolate (I used a dark chocolate bar myself- but you might be able to push the envelope with an orange flavored one)
To make-
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (my mix actually recommended 325 if you use those metal cake pans, and of course, it depends on what kind of oven you have)- Grease and flour both pans...of which I highly recommend!
2. Prepare cake mix according to directions and dont forget to stir it well- even with my electric beater, I found plenty of mix still unstirred, even when I span it around the bowl a few times XD...Divide the batter between the two pans evenly- it says to stir instant coffee into remaining batter, but really- I just threw it all in as usual :P
3. Bake layers in oven for 20 to 25 minutes (my cake mix actually recommended 35, plus 1 minute if you used whole eggs instead of egg whites), or until a toothpick inserted into the cake center comes out clean.
Let cool in pan for ten minutes, then turn out on a wire rack and let them cool completely. In a measuring cup, combine 1/4 cup brewed coffee and 1 tablespoon coffee liqueur,; set aside.
4. To make the filling- see above, with the cream cheese, heavy cream and sour cream. Mix well, but make sure you UNDER whip it, not over whip, for about 5 minutes. Cover and refrigerate until ready to spread on the cake.
5. To make the frosting: In a medium bowl, using an electric mixer set on medium high speed, beat the cream, then stir in 1/4 cup confectioners sugar and 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur until stiff. Fold 1/2 cup of cream mixture into filling mixture.
6. Then to assemble: Place one plain layer down and poke small holes in the cake and drizzle that 1/4 cup coffee on the cake- then coat with the filling / frosting...then repeat the same step with the second layer, coating evenly. (I knew I forgot a step in doing this- but my coffee was already mixed into the cake anyways, so too late :P)
7.) Then garnish with the cocoa powwder, or in my case, throw a chocolate bar (in chunks) into a speed blender and then spread it out on the top.
AND NO MATTER HOW TEMPTED YOU ARE TO EAT IT-
YOU MUST LET THE CAKE SIT OVERNIGHT. (preferably in your fridge, covered)
After that, however...dig in!!!
