It's IRL too, but like I said, it's forbidden. It's called the Black Room. They make a room, completely black with a sealed exit, and it's filled with water mixed with numbing solutions and rendered soundproof. The person floats on top, since it's denser than normal water. This cuts off absolutely all sense and connection to the real world, which causes the mind to fall in on itself and focus on its own imagination and capabilities, which also greatly improves mental skills and even psychic abilities. However, it has several side effects, so it's banned. But in that world, I doubt they even heard of the tactic yet.

I think I've told you about this but in that game Chimeras are cheap whores, who can hit you just by moving, interrupting your attacks.
