My percussion ensemble performed a piece called "Head Talk," which utilizes only drum heads, in this spring's recital. On the last note, we burst our own head through paper drum heads. To make a paper head, we cut out the skins of old heads and put paper over the remaining metal rims. Mine was from an old marching bass, so I had plenty of skin. And a variety of Sharpies. And a deep, inert drive to avoid homework at all costs.
And so I scrawled Cade and I onto the discarded head as a crest in celebration of our survival this year. HUZZAH!
