I love Kirby.

I love the games, I love the characters, I love the soundtracks. I love how Kirby is wholesome but never comes across as overly-saccharine. Whenever I feel like shit, I can just listen to Grape Gardens from Return to Dream Land and it calms my nerves. Just looking at a picture of this adorable pink puffball warms my heart more than anything else in this nightmare world we call life. It is, by far, my favorite series of video games.

So why has it taken me so long to ever bring Kirby up? Truth be told, I don't know. Maybe it was all too easy for me to ride off of the views and favorites that Pokemon stuff bring. And don't get me wrong, I still enjoy Pokemon. But no Pokemon game has ever brought me the sheer joy of getting introduced to the series through Return to Dream Land, or running through the endlessly fun levels of Planet Robobot, or going back and experiencing the older games like Crystal Shards, or simply sitting down and playing Star Allies with my closest friend. That kind of warmth is something no series besides Kirby can replicate.

So here we are. Finally giving some recognition to my favorite series. In the moment that I'm typing thia, there are no bad feelings, no anger, no hatred, no crushing sadness. There's just a smiling little fellow named Kirby, whose body is shaped like that of a friend. The best kind of friend you could ask for.
