I like how you establish that they know each other without explicitly stating so.
I am a little worried that you are loosing the solemn tone established in the Previous scenes though.
The acquaintance does not seem alarmed that "mom" is nowhere around, or that their house has been burned down, and Teckit does not seem to be distressed about loosing his home.
