I long for the days when manufacturers put as much effort into making the rear of the vehicle look as distinctive as the front. Without the keyhole for the trunk and the gas cap door to give it away, you might be fooled into thinking this was the grille at the front of the this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL.

Hehe my first car was a 63 Galaxie 500. This one is even the same color.

My Father used to have a Ford Galaxy 500 Station Wagon Sky Blue & White.
Also, a friend of mine hade a Galaxy 500 Car, all black.
You don't see that kind of style & performance these days anymore.

Ahhh yes, XL-Lent indeed!
And yes...back in the heyday of chrome-and-fins, many a car's rear view was just as interesting as from any other angle. The gloriously tailfinned Cadillacs and Chryslers immediately come to mind.
