spent too much time researchign particular flag and maybe now I know a little bit too much about a russian general that fought in the caucasian wars and the russo-turkish wars. said guy is Yakov Baklanov, he was the general of the 17th cossacks regime, and used a black flag with a cross and bones, with the niceno constantinopolitan creed embroidered as his banner during the caucasian wars. later the regime formally adopted it, and now you can see this in flags and patches carried by rebels in ukraine

to somatize this knowledge gained, I drew cossack santi and now I canon him as looking up to this respectable Yakov Baklanov dude.
