Ren and Chloe are a team despite their respective people being at odds for many, many years. The pawnard troop places value only on the sharpness of their blades, and a single minded, brutal form of attacking that basically just boils down to, run into the enemy, flail around. Ren was born missing a few of the trademark blades, so was already looked down upon.

The meinfoo dojo prizes stoic dedication to the ideals of emotionless and skill. Their warriors are fierce but serene, and the hotheaded Chloe struggled to fit in. The two misfits found each other in similar moments of crisis, and became fast friends and stronger partners.
