**Giggles!**
First off, I would like to publicly apologize to my good friend , FA Artist Poofic, for forgetting about the wonderful commission that she finished up for me and posted today for the Labor Day Weekend! I'm such a sucker for for not only groovy pieces of work, like this one, but also timing to get such groovy pieces! Often Labor Day Weekend meant the last vacation before school kicked off and right before my birthday, which also meant one of Pop's infamous parties with both my friends and then later with family. When growing up, the parties often had games like Tag, Capture the Flag, or even Marco Polo ... Mom usually hated that since it was so noisy and done while she was working on her Historical Romance novels, so we came up with Silent Marco Polo which was often more fun since you had to listen and feel your way around the pool. I was aces with this game since I knew the pool extraordinarily well ... oh, and you had to be in the water completely. Later, the games became Dungeons and Dragons! and later Pathfinder, but still lots of fun too ...
So, let's talk about the piece of work done for me by my friend!
Mini Me! is a gift that the marvelous new friend,
poofic, did for me to help pay a fine for library books to which I was more than happy to help. Now, for me, being in a small town of St. Simons Island and Brunswick, being the mainland, I was NOT allowed to be late with ANYTHING! And I do mean anything. Most of my friends and classmates hated me for school projects where I was often done with them that following weekend and that could be weeks or even months before the project was due. Sometimes my Mom and Pop would "encourage" me to make the project better ... which would make me insane because it was done, so "Could we move on, please?" Ooo! Backtalking was also not allowed and the worst lecture I got from Mom was, "You do NOT backtalk me!" Pop often had a different approach since he was often pushed into getting me to do more with the project by Mom ... oh yes, boys! My mother was that MOM! She also could sweet talk the Devil into anything ... and if God laughed, she had the chops to make God sorry. In short, my folks were those parents ... the ones that you might have heard your parents talk about, ruining the grading curve for them back in school.
Oh, and being late with books, movies, or damaging anything borrowed? Hell no ... one story to tell was Uncle Vincent spilled his Coke on something I borrowed and I got in trouble for leaving it at his place. Aunt Sara tried to defuse Mom, but Mom was NOT having it! I ended up working HARD that weekend to pay for the book's replacement and Uncle Vincent, the kind fellow he is, also apologized to Mom and even offered to replace the book for me, but Mom said, "No!" So, he bought the book for me so I never needed to borrow it again. Funny thing is, even after all these years, I still have it.
Once again, thank you so very much, honey, for doing this marvelous piece for me!
