So as I near 30, I find myself being asked to an annoying degree if 12 year old me would be proud of me. And the answer is "No, or course not." and I could never clearly answer *why*. Well. I put some deep thought into it, and I have realized that perhaps the reason I am not the person 12 year old me wanted me to be is surprisingly simple. While I have finally gained the artistic skill my little preteen self has dreamed of... I have not used that skill in a way that 12 year old me would approve of.

I disagree. The 12 year old you is happy of the artistic journey towards 30 year old you took, because they are both... well, you!
You've probably made choices that you're not very proud of during that 18 year span of time, but do you regret any of them?
Time is a ruthless bastard that drags everyone forward all the same, whether we like it or not. The real important question is; is your current self happy and/or proud of your past accomplishments?
If the answer is yes, then your 12 year old self is also proud of you!
