Thunder had an accident.
While she was training on her Thunder attack, the booms from it got too loud, damaging her ears permanently.
Yes, this means Thunder, the sweet Pikachu of my team, is deaf. But she can still speak, and is adapting to sign language and lip reading. She'll get used to it soon, I'm sure.
