I wanted the Elves of Knife's world to maintain some of that sense of otherworldly/alien grace while also being clearly more than just 'humans with pointy ears'. Hence their stabby feet, three-fingered hands and peculiar faces.

Elves above ground can often be found working bureaucratic jobs, where they get to spend large portions of their day indoors, away from the windows.
