Don't want to sound like a dick but wouldn't first strike and deathtouch be a better combination? Or am I missing a rule of some kind with double strike?

because doublestrike doubles what you get out of attack buffs. Leonin scimitar gives +1/+1 which translates to +2/+1 on a doublestrike.

also, the deal with doublestrike is it does first strike damage AND regular damage, so it's technically better than first strike.

Ah you see that's what i forgot. I know First strike and deathtouch are like one of the most lethal combination on a creature.

technically, the legendary staus IS the drawback. you can only have one at a time.

also, vampire nighthawk: 1BB for a 2/3 flying deathtouch lifelink vampire with ridiculous tribal potential, and NOT a legendary.

Oh no, I agree. Nighthawk is a very powerful card. Arguable the best non-rare from that set. But it's Zendikar, so of course its cheap.

Then again, double strike and deathtouch make for an interesting combo. Wouldn't mind watching that wreck shop on the field.

bah, I just got a 9/9 elephant that can devour up to 3 enemy creatures to get +3/3 for each. the opponent gets a 3/3 elephant for each one I devour, but hey, I got a 18/18 elephant.
