Now you have me thinking back... I mostly remember these wheels and hubcaps on half ton pickups. I'm not saying they were not on the cars, I just don't remember them being used.

I don’t doubt you. The owner of this car probably bought those hubcaps, making an aesthetic choice rather than a historically correct one.

I can't say for sure which year without seeing more of the car, but you're right that it's a 1957-59.

I could be wrong of course, but I'm guessing that those dog-dish hubcaps are correct to this car. The Custom 300 was the no-frills, Plain-Jane of Ford's model lineup then. They weren't generally dolled up like the flashy Fairlanes, the glamourous Galaxies or the sexy Thunderbirds. This baby blue beauty probably wore plain blackwall tires when it was new.

Hmm, had a set of those on my Merc. Thsoe things are a real bitch to get on/off. they fit tighter than hell. Don't squeak or rattle though.

Lovely hubcap, these days you'd be scared to drive with them on incase it fell off O.O
