As some of you already know, I've been having trouble dedicating myself to a particular fursona. At first I was content with being a rat, but after a while I began to worry that people had a bad first impression of me because of my street-like appearance. Also, my reason for picking rat in the first place was because of extremely low self esteem at the time.
Not too long ago I decided to change my primary fursona to a kobold robot. I love computers and robots by extension, and kobolds were known as servants to powerful dragons (a particularly enjoyable fantasy of mine.) However, I still made the fursona as an attempt to appease both furry friends and human friends, since robots aren't quite as 'disgusting' as normal anthropomorphics (right?). I'm not sure if I can live with that kind of on the fence compromise forever either way.
That leads us to the new guy, Mono. I've always loved lions since the start of my fursona adventure. In fact, my original ORIGINAL character was a rat who turned into a lion sometimes. I've wanted to switch to a lion fursona for a long time because of this love of powerful beasts, but I always thought I'd wait until I had the "confidence" to deserve it.
Recently, however, I've noticed that things in the world are getting pretty crazy, and life is short. So, I decided to go ahead and make my weird dream a reality and just hope I grow into the idea of being a proud and noble lion. Who is also a skunk because they're cool and underrated and representative of my refusal to give in to anyone's opinion of me. (Wish me luck on growing into THAT idea).
I don't know yet if he'll truly replace Dakinu or Apex, since some people insist on calling me those names anyway for one thing. He will definitely be a thing though, as this fursona will help me feel like I can be 'myself'. You'd want a fursona that you truly wanted to be too, right? Not something born of fear or shame.
TL;DR = New fursona No.3

Personally, I would consider sticking to something a bit more plush, so if it's already that way, I think I'd be pretty well set. :3
Either way, I do find your concept of body engineering with science and genetics changing more quickly than technology quite interesting. In a way, I've been interested in playing with that idea myself where it takes a more direct approach and influence in a culture that, for it's entire existence, has had more of a natural life, but that being encroached upon by people who body-mod themselves with technology, genetics, and science. Kind of a new age vs tradition thing.
Either way, I do find your concept of body engineering with science and genetics changing more quickly than technology quite interesting. In a way, I've been interested in playing with that idea myself where it takes a more direct approach and influence in a culture that, for it's entire existence, has had more of a natural life, but that being encroached upon by people who body-mod themselves with technology, genetics, and science. Kind of a new age vs tradition thing.
I'm thinking of labeling the tail as just plain 'shapeshifting' so it can change to fit in pants and such too.
In my idea, it'd be taboo to be human, if anything. There's way too many features to pass on for the sake of 'purity'. But I'm sure there's always gonna be 'that guy'...
I've also thought about the idea of 'chemical games', but it hasn't gone further than those two words, really.
