This is something batty gets up to RL.
YAY for high voltage.
This is my little Tesla coil iv been making past few day Using a flyback transformer from a TV. Only getting about a 25mm ark from this at the moment, Wont get much more but waiting for some stuff to come in the post to get a little bit out of it.
Its giving off about 25,000 volts :D
I'm gunna be putting a section on my website soon for all my experiments and such when i do ill post a link :D
This has given me a good idea for a drawing :D
Anyways enjoy :D
Video of it working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsxuA3me3UU

lol X3 thats silly.. i have a switch on this one but don't actually use it... I'v modded an ATX PSU and put a little toggle switch on the green wire and ground, to turned the PSU on and off... its easier to get to :P.
This only kicks out about 20 to 25kv because its a small 2vk flyback transformer powering it. tho next experiment I'm intending to get a 15kv ignition coil from an oil burner and the coil hopefully will give out 150kv+. I need to get a high voltage test probe to see what the actual V and A is.

I built nearly the same flyback driver as you, except mine used one of those shitty quarter sized radio shack power transistors, and some big 10 watt resistors. Also, I used saltwater capacitors (3 applesauce jars) which didn't turn out to work as bad as I thought they would. Where is your spark gap? Maybe I'm not seeing it cause its not in the picture.
For tesla coil use though, eventually you want to acquire 1 or more neon sign transformers for your power supply, now THAT is where the fun really begins :D

Neon Transformers are extremely hard to find in England.. so that's out of the question unfortunately.. The spark game is just a freestanding wire in that one between the primer y coil and the ring connector, you can just see the spark across it. I made another revision look on the front page here http://shiinsuh.maxie.com/news.php (look down the page) there's also a video on there too
My first coil used 2 MOT's and homemade Acetate sheets and foil tape capacitors in vege oil + soda bottles, it was a loud thing., second one used a flyback like this and beer bottles salt water and nails. Third one used Russian military surplus capacitor array and a doorknob sparkgap with fan, then after that started just doing solid state, haven't stopped using IGBT / MOSFET since then
