The Silkhie are the oldest of the three Greater Clans, but are sadly also the rarest. Their numbers were decimated during the war that overthrew the Northern Crown, and caused them to move into hiding. Where, exactly, is largely unknown.
The Silkhie are also on the small side, according to sabercats, standing at an average of only 8 feet, and weighing only around 200 to 250 lbs. The Silkhie are generally very thin and narrow-shouldered, and, unique to sabercats, are more adapted to walking and running on their hind legs, like humans. Another curious trait of the Silkhie is their stance, with females being somewhat nock-kneed and males being bowlegged.
The Silkhie have a relatively small range of coat colors, with a ruddy iron-brown being the most common. Occasionally, a cat will be born dark brown or tan. Spots are never seen among this clan, and they will always carry the black, grinning face markings and back stripe. If either of those markings are missing, or if the cat sports a spotted, speckled, broken, or otherwise marked pelt, then one can be assured that they are not truly of the Silkhie clan. Silkhie eye color, much like pelt color, ranges very little; golden-brown is the most common. The Silkhie’s eyes are another unusual trait identifying the clan; it consists of the inner color, usually golden brown with an always dark brown outer ring. Again, should a cat be lacking this trait, you can be sure that they are not of Silkhie origin.
Due to the clan’s secretive nature, little is known about their lifespan or familial lives. It is believed, however, that they make their living off of the cultivation and production various medicines exclusive to their area.
