CAP wears black boots with ABUs. Sage green boots are hard to get and expensive. Some of us still wear our BDUs as these are still authorized.

Civil Air Patrol. Airman Basic Uniform. Battle Dress Uniform (woodland pattern, in this case).

Had several of my cadets get accepted into the ACA over the years. One or two washouts.

Trying to find pictures of Air Force Academy cadets was mind-blowing, because there were so. many. different. uniforms. I found an image that I used for the drawing and took the shoe colors from there. The cadets in the photo were wearing red ball caps. In other photos, cadets were wearing camo ball caps, blue berets, and the cylindrical caps seen here. They also wore hats that look like Australian cowboy hats. And they wore blue shirts, camo shirts, fancy jackets--not having a military background, it was all quite bewildering.

And then I thought, "This story is about a yellow teddy bear kid. I'm gonna draw what looks good to me."
