(It's working now, by the way! Had to reupload.)
Back when I was first messing around with this I was trying to go for a Half-Life 2 atmosphere, but theeen... This happened. *shrug* That game deserves better anyhow.

Thanks! Yeah, that's just me playing to my strengths. Erm, strength, make that singular. Needless to say, my beats need work.
<ramble>I refuse to use loops unless I chop them to hell. I'm sure they're useful, but I have an, I think, valid guilt about being unoriginal or not making "real" music by doing it all within a program. My only musical experience in reality is high school band/orchestral playing trumpet/french horn. I loved it though, music like that can still give me goosebumps.</ramble>
I bet people who don't know what goes into electronic music think it's all hit a buttom and bam, music. It's of course figure out a very imposing and complicated interface and THEN you can hit the button.

Well, to be honest, from what I've dabbled in FL Studio, it's really not that hard to figure out.
You could easily just take the beat making interface and fill in random notes to get something that sounds good. Being a musician myself, I know that there's a lot more to it, but I think that melodies are much more important than the beats. I think that the beat in this particular piece was a bit sub-par, but it really doesn't matter if there are excellent melodies. :3

The main synth, that sound like it has shit ton of reverb on it, does sound very Half Life 2 esque. Which is not a terribly easy sound to pull off; that game has an awesome sound. Simple, yet changing and always effective.

^ I second that. I can't think of the last time I used a straight drum loop without dumping it in the fruity slicer.
I like the overall sound of this guy. Well done again.
