Halfenheim:
She is 22 years old and a member of the Freerun Knights-- a branch of the royal army that specialize in swift, fluid movements and relying totally on their body as their offense and defense. Because of this they typically wear very light clothing that allows for freedom of movement and speed. Her race (which I can't be bothered to name right now) are very small, thin, and lithe, and so the ranks of the Freerunners are mostly made up of them. Besides their boyish frames their race is typically characterized by almost pigmentless hair, the splotchy birthmarks they often have on their backs/shoulders, and their almost cross-hair like pupils. Her horn is not real, it's actually a part of the FR Knight uniform. Higher officers obviously have bigger/better horns to denote their rank.
Her birth name is not really Halfenheim; her parents had died before naming her (it's customary in her world to give a child a name once they're a few months old, so that the parents get the spirit of the child in their name rather than naming a little wimpy boy Butch or something like that) so she adopted her Family Name for herself instead. Her friends (fellow soldiers, mostly) usually refer to her as Hal, or if they want to piss her off, Halfie.
In Hal's world, Altar, it's pretty commonplace for someone to have missing limbs, eyes, etc, or to be totally blind, since the local flora and fauna are pretty vicious. Aside from that fact, most people would gladly lose an eye or a leg rather than attempt to, say, block the claws/horns with the typical reaction of holding up their hands. In Altar hands are sacred things closely tied to their deities (who more often than not either have portraits of hands all over their hides or have multiple hand-like appendages) so it's necessary in the society of every intelligent race to wear gloves at all times and keep hands absolutely pristine. So naturally, one is more likely to take a claw raked across their face if they slip up enough to deserve one, rather than cover behind their hands to shield themselves.
Common people usually wear fine fabrics as their gloves, but warriors typically wear thick leathers or metals. Not having gloves on your hands at any time is seen as absolutely vile, and the person is treated as contaminated and exiled immediately.
Even in exiled subculture, probably in an attempt to clutch at their lost pride, wearing gloves at all times is commonplace, and those who wake up to the futility of it and don't wear them are treated as a lower "class" than the exiled who continue to keep theirs as pristine as possible.
Doubtful anyone will read that wall of text so tl;dr notes about a world I've been making up in my head ever since I started playing FFX again and got miffed about the typical little fairy princess summoners who can only cure and cast -holy- and it's sickening. :|
Oh yeah, in Halfenheim's world summoners are incredibly evil. :>
