The shadows looks a little cartoony. What graphic design software are you using?

Sketchbook Pro, but I've barely done any colouring before so I'm still figuring out how the tools work. You think I should find a way of blending the shadows more?

yep, there are some good brushes to make very nice looking shadows, try to use another brush but first, you've got to create another layer before to start to shade your drawing and then change the opacity properties of the layer, I'd recommend you to switch the opacity of the layer from 100% to 25% or 50%, depending of the light intensity
