After building a new main PC last month and loving the AMD Quadcore I decided to rip apart my old, slow backup computer and upgrade it last week. The only thing that survived was the case, power supply, USB headers, fans and floppy drive! Quite a change compared to the MESS it was inside with the old full size Albatron KT400 board with Athlon XP3000..and 4 hard drives.
It's one of those Fry's specials. I wound up paying a total of $200 for the motherboard, CPU, memory, DVD-RW and hard drive!
Biostar TA785G3 Motherboard with on-board ATI HD 4200 graphics & sound.
Athlon II X3 435 Tricore CPU
2GB's of PC3-10666 Patriot memory
500 gig Western Digital Caviar Black, I'm planning to add a 1TB soon and dump a bunch of stuff from my older IDE hard drives on it.
ASUS 24X DVD-RW drive
Already had the Tiger Pro 500 watt power supply.
And good old Windows XP home system pack 3.. legit copy.
A very basic setup compared to the watercooled overclocked Rigs I've seen here on FA, but it works for me.
