New Poke-Pal: Suggillo the Crabominable
Something I had actually completed a week or two ago Not perfect, but I don't think I'm going to take it any farther.
So I had been firing up my copy of Pokemon Sun every so often for gits and shiggles and one Pokemon I finally decided to go through the trouble of getting was Crabominable. Infamous for being a late blooming Pokemon that isn't really all that worth the wait. General consensus was that it's too tanky and slow to be of any use and pretty ugly as well, but I couldn't help but find a spark of something in it. When I look at it, I can see an adorkable mountain man kind of person, so I decided to not only add one to my poke-sona's canon roster, but make it a Poke-Pal as well. For those who don't know, Poke-Pals are just me making (semi-)anthro interpretations of Pokemon on my team.
So here's Suggilo. After getting trapped in a box of Berries and sent to the summit of Mt. Lanakila, Suggillo evolved from his comfortable Crabrawler state into an awkward, clumsy Crabominable. Even compared to other Crabominable he was odd due to only having two thick legs to stand on and strange overly-defined arms. Because of his lack of control over his body and invoking fear and disgust in other Pokemon, was forced to live in isolation with nobody to rely on for help. Slowly he got used to his new form and managed to make a life for himself on the mountain, but the crushing loneliness made him wish for more.
After his victory in Kalos and subsequent resignation from his Champion role, Ninetails was been invited to Alola by professor Kukai to discuss his views and experiences with inter-species relationships with Pokemon. While there, he was also invited to the opening ceremonies of the Alola Pokemon League as a guest competitor. In the days leading up to it, Ninetails took to exploring Alola's many sights and while exploring Lanakila, he came across Suggillo. Ninetails was amazed by his shape and size compared to other examples of Crabominable he'd met on his travels and asked the shy Pokemon if he wouldn't mind traveling with him and his team and Suggillo, amazed by anyone wanting to be his friend, accepted. Although he's still a socially awkward mess and oftentimes isolates himself from others, Ninetails and his Pokemon are happy to have him as part of the team with Bubba in particular taking Suggillo under his wing as a fellow bulky Ice type. Although it's hard for him to open up, Suggillo is over the moon at finally having friends to help him and a kindhearted trainer to watch over him.
In battle, Suggillo is a Mighty Glacier powerhouse specializing in launching haymakers of all shapes and sizes. While incredibly slow and somewhat clumsy on his feet, he tends to use that to his advantage to land devastating blows from unorthodox positions. He comes equipped with Ice Punch, Ice Hammer, Dizzy Punch and Avalanche with Iron Fist as his Ability. While powerful enough to knock down redwood tress with a single punch, he lacks any sort of finesse due to his awkward body shape and mostly self-taught style of fighting.
