I think this is actually the main reason I wouldn't get such a songbird unit, even if I could afford one: I imagine I would need to be a rather prolific mechanic/engineer myself just to keep her properly maintained and healthy.
Maybe the next invention should be a philo maintenance unit? I mean, we need time to sleep... why not slip her gently into a stasis unit for part checking and such?
