We arrived at Vyborg two days ago. Today was horrible. We walked through destroyed ruins of finnish streets which no one wants to repair, we looked at old finish architecture which was crumbling before our eyes, found one new landmark about which I will write below and spent most of the day in the hotel just because the town was depressing to walk through. It was already a bad day but the fact that the hotel was so damn horrible made it worse. That place does not deserve even 3 stars it has.
The one landmark we found was a very old finnish church which had a history richer than ALMOST ANYTHING in the centre of the town where most tourists go. And yet, despite it being probably one of the most important landmarks in the whole city it was in ruins. It was destroyed during the war and no one even thought about reviving the place which was revived more than 3 times before. The government does not give a damn about the history of the city. The worst thing of all tho are the people, people who act as if they have ANY relation to that place at all, like they r related to finnish kings and knights and the story of this place beyond being a part of the nation who just occupied this city and then ruined it's history. (I am not a russophob no, it is just a huge tragedy that after the land went to russia everyone just stopped providing for a very damn important city.) The ruins of the church were actually crumbling as we looked at them, like the part I decided to make a photo of. What ya r seeing on ma photo is literally everything what was left from the second floor of the church. This weird, unbalanced mass of bricks is about to fall off leaving nothing but 4 walls of the first floor of the building. It is very sad but I decided to make the photo in a way in which it would look interesting and appealing just to remind that even in the worst places good can be found. The photo (the best part of that day) turned out awesome. It was horrendous 3rd day overall.
