The Crystal Gems have been fiendishly turned into a set of matryoshka dolls by [insert antagonist here]! Garnet and Pearl have acclimatised very quickly, although Pearl is a little bit miffed at only being the second layer - nevertheless, they will ensure nobody escapes their protection. Steven is already coming around to their way of thinking, leaving only Amethyst immune to the thought-altering magic - but unable to break free to change back. Poor Peridot, at the bottom, is so constricted that she can only think very simple thoughts.
Looks like it'll be up to Connie, Bismuth and Lapis to save them! Or be turned into toys as well. One or the other.

Steven and the Crystal Gems were called upon by Yellow diamond to re-communicate with star skipper that was under her command but has gone silent on the edge of the galaxy, Yellow has sent other fleets to that location but all of them have not returned and since Steven and his friends are good at these kind of things they are given their own ship and sent to investigate.
Upon reaching the location, they see all the missing ships floating aimlessly in the gravitational pull of a glowing planet, and all begin to feel strange as Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst, Steven, and Peridot all hold each other close from feeling strange as their gems begin to glow, as does their bodies until they all fuse together, leaving a large Russian Matryoshka Nest Doll in the shape of Garnet, sitting there motionless with her likeness flattened all over it.
The Doll is completely motionless, giving the illusion that they have all ceased living, but deep inside the figurative mind of Garnet, she is alive and well as her thoughts are not contemplating a way to change back or save the other, but is more obsessed with being a strong leader that keeps everyone safe inside her, and she means that literally. Deep inside Garnet literally this time, is Pearl, taking after the name sake of the Matryoshka nesting dolls, she is same shape as garnet only slightly smaller and completely hallow, allowing her to fit inside Garnet as her mind also cares little for turning back to normal and feels frustration over being the one that Rose trusted most, making her the most fit to be the one who protects everyone making her the one who should be the outer most layer of group.
Pearls frustration is slightly subsided by the feeling of still protecting those in the layers beneath her as Amethyst disagree's and unlike the others doesn't want to be protected or protect others, she just wants her freedom, though her thoughts tword it are rather simplified as were the others as their senses have dulled and simplified to meet this simple new existence which leaves them all speaking in a more blunt manor.
While Amethyst doesn't care for what she's become, the layer shes protecting is Steven, who at first wants Connie to help him....but Steven takes it back and his feelings tword her blossom forth as he wants to protect her instead, wanting Connie to be inside with them instead, Ironically endangering her from having freedom by wanting her to be protected within away from any danger or decisions.
Even though he wishes he had Connie inside him, what he has instead is Peridot, whose mind has been reduced to one simple word.....CLOD!!! over and over again on an endless loop, proving that Peridot doesn't have a lot going on for herself deep down.
The entire Crystal Gem's have all become one by each being nested within each other, as their bodies and minds are all trapped within the layer of the next above and below them, their minds all echoing over each other but unable to interact as each mind is shelled off from the other, leaving only the muffled sound of their thoughts and the comforting feeling of having the next layer down inside them to give the upper layer the knowledge that they are protecting the ones they loved....whether they want to or not as they are added to the other ships floating around this planet that has the power to grant someones deepest fantasies, and since the power is light based, it triggers all the gems to forcefully shape shift and become this Nesting Doll in a way to collectively fill their need to look within and protect their friends, even if it means an eternity of taking it literally. the end
