This came as a surprise one day when
crosscounter asked whether he could do an art piece with my chars in it, so i happily obliged.
A generous piece of work showing a match between two middleweight speedsters of mine, [url/=view/2067424]Riley (left), the kangeroo and [url/=view/1965246]Simone (right), the cheetah. The line work of the punches thrown are just breath-taking. No referee with the right mind would stand in their way or wander any nearer beside the furious exchange.
Would the roo with the better stamina or the cheetah with the better power and toughness win?

And the judges get a migraine trying to score this fight! Ya gotta hand it to the judges, they really need to know what they're looking for and how to see it. Especially if they're the kind that judge on "who lands the most punches". Then they have to decide on what they consider a judeable blow is. Was it how hard the punch landed, or how cleanly, or where? Was it a PUNCH or more of a push? Was it with the right part of the glove? In a scene like this theyd be throwing their hands up unable to really catch enough to tell.
Done right it could make compubox obsolete. They'd just need to find a way to make sure pounding gloves doesn't count as a point and such. Perhaps a little sensor in each glove and perhaps some sort of sensor in like, the mouth guard and another in the foul protector. Punch hits a glove, doesn't count. Hits the face or the body and the other sensors pick it up and it counts as a score. The technology isn't that expensive anymore either.
Yeah, they really have to improve somewhere. The compubox system they at least used to use in Golden Gloves and I think the Olympics is rediculous. It favors a certain type a fighting style. All three judges have a button for each fighter, and in order for a punch to be considered a scoring blow all three judges have to hit the button within a second for it to count. You'd have two people in there pounding each other and the score would only show 20 punches landed. A good sensory system, even something along the lines of what things like the PS3 Eye Toy could be developed to improve on that.
