Fishing back around Fairy Tale Parade #1 here's a panel from a Walt Kelly original story, ``Winkie and the Wishing Well''. It's on page 58 of https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=27602 if you want to check. In the story Winkie is trying to save the giant's daughter from the bandits who've taken over the castle, and he has nothing on his side except the goodwill of the giant, and the pet lizard of the giant's daughter, and knowledge of the well whose water drops allow any wish to come true. Can he save the day? (Spoiler: he saves the day.)

If the notes at comicbookplus are right, this is an original-to-Walt-Kelly story, and I don't know if it's gotten reprinted anywhere to speak of. It's certainly not the only giant-magic-shoes story out there, although it does seem to be a rarity in the giant being basically neutral.
And thanks for the comment about the boy. I've been trying to learn something about human faces and did skimp on the time given the lizard's head.
