THE TANGERINE RETURNS! This time with even more fat from my screen glued to the tip - I should use some hand sanitizer on my screen before drawing, this time it actually accumulated on certain spots and made the final linework unnecessarily difficult. Dishgushtingh!
I love this. I love this so much. I know I've already said something along these lines before, but if you told me, on the 14th of August 2018, that I was gonna make this just two years later, I would NOT believe you. Yet here we are. And there it is.
Honestly, I think there's this huge misconception about art where people think it's something you're either good at or you're not. That you need some expensive equipment or special pencils or styluses, studying anatomy and muscles and skulls, an art school degree, this, that, those..
In reality, all you *really* need is a regular school pencil with a dull tip, a poorly functioning eraser, lots of paper, or a tangerine slice and a touchscreen phone. Then do the whole iterative drawing process where you just draw the same thing over and over and over again, but always in different positions or angles or styles, until you're really good at it and at a point where you can be proud of yourself. Then you start doing other things and repeating the same process for them, except at this point you're already good enough that with just a few tries you can get art that's on the same level as the latest one you did of the initial thing.
Yes, these things help, of course they fluffing do, but like, seriously, the only actual studying I did for these kinds of things are either reference image compilations like this or this and looking into colour theory. That's it.
tl;dr: just draw, and keep drawing, and you'll get really, really good. In a decade you might even be that guy selling 100 dollar portrait commissions.
