The following is just a story based on the UTO Verse created by Hetzer. The basis of the Proxy is a small robotic mech. built to the human scale, so that the larger races of the UTO can interact with them on their own scales. But they always seemed so metallic and lifeless.. not so much anymore...!

"Damn man, nice suit!" Steven swiveled his head to the call, giving a bit of a bow. "Thanks, I made it myself!" He was grinning behind his mask, he took pride in his work and loved to show it off at AC every year.
This years suit project was of a flaming red fox, though most people tend to ask if he had modeled it after a Falashi. Of course it was something he'd thought about doing, but it wasn't everyday you met one of the UTO species here on earth. Sure they had a few enclaves, but none were in east reach of any of the major city centers. Besides how would he even pose that question! 'Hi I would love to make a fursuit based on you so I can wear it to a furry convention'. He shook his head at the thought, chuckling softly as he strode about the convention…
He wasn't a socialite by nature, hell he'd taken a small dose of anti-anxiety medication before even getting suited up this morning. But there was just something about being in his suit that made him more confident, so when he noticed another suiter standing rather awkwardly off to the side he decided to go try and strike up a conversation.
He approached with that kind of lazy wandering pace, giving him time to look over the others' suits. The sight actually brought a wince to his face, hell no wonder he was here in the corner.. it looked so awkward and unfitting, like he'd bought it second hand from someone.. smaller than him, at least he thought it was a him with the general features. The colors were nice, and the suit itself was well made, but the fabric seemed to bend at awkward angles, and never quite where a joint should be…
His Yutri beeped as he approached, though he wasn't really sure why, and he wasn't about to remove half of his suit just to see his mom had messaged him or something. "Hey there, you doing alright here in this dark ominous corner?" He canted his head to the side comically, hoping he could make the stranger smile. His question seemed to snap the wolf before him out of whatever thoughts they were having as it replied "Oh, yeah." There was a bit of a chuckle as he spoke ",I'm just a bit lost as to what I should be doing here." Steven nodded with a laugh "Yeah, always the trouble. Let me guess, first con shyness?" The wolf nodded, his tail behind him flicking slightly Odd… a suit that poor fitting, yet controllable tail. I suppose I've seen stranger. "Yeah, this is my first time.. ah, in suit and here. I hear it's a good place to meet people, and suit makers." He half gestured at himself "It's probably easy to tell this was second hand. Yours on the other hand looks amazing, it's one of the more realistic ones I've seen today."
Steven grinned as he gave a nod “Thanks. I do my own work, kinda funny how a hobby became another source of income.” He paused then returned to the first half of that comment “And I could kinda tell. Say, did you have your suit made, or is it second-handed? Oh hell, where are my manners! I'm Steven, or Irnvic Firetail if your going by my suit.” The wolf tipped his head in a slight nod, replying “Im, ah, Tarion . And I picked this one up secondhand. Its.. kinda hard to make one to fit me well, not that i'm worried about cost.. I just wanted to find someone who could make something as real as possible. Kinda like the style of yours there.” “Hmm.. Tarion.. That sounds a lot like a lupari name, got a big wolf fan?” He broke into a soft laugh as Tarion rubbed at his suits ear as they both seemed to dip down, before replying “You could say that…” Steven nodded, replying “Well, Currently I have no project.” He paused then continued “I’d be happy to talk it over, but first there's a panel I wanted to go to, you can tag along if you want and we can chat after.” Tarion seemed to pause, then perked up “Sure, whats the panel about anyway?” “Just some guy recounting what being a Charge is like. Must be amazing really. Ive always thought being with a Ra’lai would be great, though that lupari Empathy must make it hard to ever have a bad day.” He broke into a bit of a laugh, “But yeah, sound fun?” Tarion gave a nod starting towards Steven “Yeah, lets get moving then!” They both set off chatting back and forth..
“... I still think it would be great, you know? Hell I’ve spent most of my life alone, but being attached to someone at that level.. Its an interesting thought.” Steven fumbled the key for his rooms door, swearing softly before removing the paw of his suit so he could actually get the key to work. “Here we are!” He looked over to Tarion, waving him in “Come on in!”
Tarion gave a bit of a laugh, the suits tail still swaying happily behind him. Steven still thought it was a bit odd how well it seemed to telegraph the others mood
“It does sound lovely, really. I understand that it is more for the sake of being able to go about normal life in a larger setting, but I agree that the closeness would be amazing.” Tarion replied as he set off into the room, seeming to stand a bit awkwardly there as he waited for his Host to stride in.
Steven moved to shut the door behind him, immediately reaching up to pop off his suit's head. Wiping the sweat from his face, his short cropped hair sticking to his head as well as he let out a bit of a disgusted sound “Blergh.. Man these things are killer..” he turned to glance at Tarion “You can take that off as well, besides it’ll help me get proportions..”
He settled his head down on his bed, shifting to reach for his luggage, looking for his measuring equipment, as he heard Tarion shifting behind him.
“Uh, sure I can do that. Like I said. Its some odd proportions, and I need it to look as.. Natural as possible. I.. plan to use it to ease some patents.” Tarion replied, sounding almost pensive.
Steven gave a soft laugh “What helping at a children's hospital?” He glanced over his shoulder, then dropped his luggage in shock, his tailors kit falling to the floor and spilling.
Tarion’s head was off though the rough looking metal canine figure was anything more than what he was expecting. The metallic face and ears managed to look somewhat abashed, the robots metallic ears down. “I.. suppose I could of gave you a bit more of a warning..?” he said.
Steven was staring at a Lupari, it was a Lupari's proxy. His brain stalled as he just stared. Letting the silence draw out a bit uncomfortably, before Tarion spoke "I-if.. its an issue I can go. I hadn't me-"
Steven cut him off with a bit of a forced laugh "An issue? Hell no. Just, agh let me get over the initial shock. And yeah, maybe letting me know before I referred to your species as 'cute fluffy boys who needed a good booping' would of made me less embarrassed now. Hey! You even agreed with me when I said it!"
The proxy grinned as it looked back at him, somewhat unnerving before replying "What, we totally do need boops and affection" the reply was so matter a fact he actually gaped at Tarion
They both sat in silence for a brief moment, before Steven started to laugh quietly. That soon turned into a full fit, as they fell to the hilarity of the situation.
Steven was the first to collect himself, glancing down at the half scattered pile of equipment on the floor. He gave another gentle chuckle before standing to move over to Tarions chassis, saying “Well.. Im guessing you’re going to want something as close to real as you can?” He held up his measuring tape as he leaned in to study the sleek looking body.
“Ideally yeah.” Tarion Replied, watching Steven as he started to take measurements “I work in a hospital, and I want to take the edge off of.. Well having your doctor be a large heartless looking robot, you know? And as I said.. Cost isn’t an issue..”
Steven nodded as he measured one of the arms “Your.. probably going to want.. Something easy to clean, sterile as possible.. Are you going to want something affixed to your.. Uh.. to the Chassis? Or something closer to an actual suit..?”
“I actually have two Proxies, one is a designated surgical unit. The one before you is my.. I supposing mingling unit, so it doesn't necessarily need to be utilitarian.” He paused as he looked down at Steven, before he replied “Wait, you mean you can actually apply it to this permanently?”
Steven nodded emphatically “Yeah, it's a bit expensive to get the better adhesive, but I think I could give this thing some actual skin.. Hell.. even put some gel pads on the pads here..” he trailed off as his mind ran “The only other real thin I would need is a reference.. For color markings..”
Tarion gave a bit of a nod as he looked on, saying “Well.. Uh.. There's a cafe that has private rooms that we could rent out.” Steven stared at him blankly, before Tarion continued “It's.. one of those Mixed race ones.. Tables for us ‘bigguns’ and you.”
Steven froze at the offer. This was his chance to do something he always had wanted too, but damn! Why did the prospect shoot so much anxiety through him? He blinked then spoke “I.. Have never actually met one of you in person.. Uhn..” He paused then muttered “Hell..” then spoke up “Who am I kidding. Yes. Just gimme a time and date!”
So it was set, a month from now they would meet to start what was probably one of Stevens biggest projects, and what would eventually lead one Steven Johannas to fame with this ‘Fire-tail’ brand Proxy modification
