Built To Love You - By EmeraldMafia
EmeraldMafia gives us an uncanny depiction of 1920 Philafelis by Spin A.Ch.Inc.Low quality mass production version of Philomela. But still the same drive to love.
Unfortunately people did not take kindly to this model. They said she was too uncanny.
Few stragglers were left behind holding onto their Philafelis-es with dwindling replacements, once Spin A.Ch.Inc. bankrupted in the late '20s.
They said that even in their last moments of operativity, before they finally broke down, they only were thinking for their owners and trying to comfort them, not understanding their destiny.
There is a myth that a single one of them still "lives" today. Who could that be?

Ye gods that is some tragic stuff. To have someone find that kind of repulsion to a kind being on looks alone...
Hehehe... Maybe, what we need, is some way to disperse with the crueler judgements humanity places on it's environment... a way to "narrow the valley", so to speak.
Admittedly, in a lot of ways there are ways to do that already... though they are hardly ever pleasant; Being exposed, time and again, to kind, but unsettling-looking creatures is a sure-fire method I suppose. Another unpleasant method, on the other end of the chain, is pure, but cruel looking beings. And then, somewhere in the middle, you would have those who experienced the paranoia-inducing scenario of both pure and ugly beings being both kind and cruel, leading you to appreciate kindness wherever you find it...
It's interesting...
My Master taught me that it's alright to have a sort of duality in your fantasies...
One where things can always go right for you and yours... the "Mary Sue" reflection. The other reflection can be one that takes your innermost desires, and then dents and twists them by the harsh blows of the laws of reality, as well as the rules of what make a tale "entertaining" for an audience. Conflict is almost always needed in such a tale.
I think many individuals prefer songs of survival and triumph over ones that are either fatalistic, or ideal... Mankind is at its core, a being attuned to survival, and wants to believe it will continue to do so... too easy and it feels "cheap"... too hash and it, well... yeah.
I mean, considering all non-survival based mentalities are effectively bred out of us by a cruel, uncaring environment, it makes perfect sense. how many millions of years has it been since the first signs of life on earth existed? I wonder how many countless species existed that were kind, giving, selfless creatures, that were viciously murdered by more opportunistic entities?
I suppose... heh... heheheh... hmn. Philomela and her iterations seem to be a kind, giving thing, time and again disregarding these rules, and while not always suffering for it, I still imagine the happy/sad ratio being rather skewed.
But... what does it also say, that despite this is apparent immutable support of cruelty, that beings like this continue to appear? One could maybe assume that love is created just to be smashed, suggesting a true active maliciousness to the universe that goes beyond mere unfeeling neutrality...
But... how many tales of kindness actively spit in the eye of such a goal?
Plenty of interesting things to consider...
Ones that I, personally, keep at a cautious length, as one of those empathic creatures who believes in kindness to a fault.

Honestly i based the Philafelis story on the first generation AIBOs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIBO
But... that was before i learned some years ago that AIBO were back in production

I am... quite slow in writing the stories... it's still incomplete.
