This is a concept design for one of the antagonist species in Auran Connection: the Malavites. Depicted in the book as anthropomorphic, saurian sea monsters, this particular design didn't have the impact I was looking for. Just doesn't look intimidating or badass enough. Well, still a first try. I'll just have to keep working on it.

Yeah, heh, I really need to prepare a document explaining that sometime XD Yup, Malivia and Raikonia are two separate planets (well, technically, Malivia is a habitable moon, but they're both the same size).
The story's slowed a bit due once again to schoolwork; final projects are due in less than two weeks, so most of my focus is on them. However, in my free time I've been brainstorming ways to untangle all the knots and I think I've figured out a couple of 'em.

I see. You know Aelius, I'm building my own universe myself. Well, galaxy actually. I'm creating a map of stars, and of the solar systems around them. And, I'm wondering how close the orbits of planets can be without the planets slipping them and possibly colliding.
Then again, I should know that a realistic solar system doesn't have all habitable planets. I'll take out my d20 Future book for later work. I like to create Rachet & Clank style systems where almost every planet is habitable and inhabited.

Well, for starters I would suggest you research habitable zones of various stars.
Also, a really helpful book on just this sort of thing: http://www.amazon.com/World-Building-Science-Fiction-Writing/dp/158297134X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272339125&sr=8-1 It tells the science behind planets and science-fiction worlds, and how to make them believable.
