why do the panels cycle clockwise from bottom right?

They start at top left. He's much smaller than the tanks there. After the growth (bottom right) he's about as tall as the tanks.

Well, the four panels have these smaller sections, which are divided in a kind of scattered manner. Something more uniform would help here. The clues that it's an inflation then growth aren't very clear on first glance. Perhaps when his glasses shrink in size relative to his face, he draws attention to it with a more focused facial expression. Whatever can be done to convey this information visually, you should integrate.

The small panels are related to the main one on the same page. The main panels of each page make the story: the others are just for some particulars related to the main ones of the same page. To make what you said, I should give the same relevance to the secondary panels as the main ones, but this means I'd need these last to be bigger, and as a consequence the main one to be smaller. As a result, the comic would have a loss of particulars on the panels that are important for the story (the main ones) to "give space" for the secondary ones, while these last would just show some details related to the first ones.
It is a possible option, sure, but I think it is better to focus on the story itself and keep the secondary panels as they are, just to show the details.

To be honest, you're the first one telling me about this issue: from my point of view, it is too little to define that detail loss as "easy". If, in the future, others will tell me about this, I coud consider de idea of test another way to manage my sequences. For now, I like to make them in this way, so I think I'll keep on with this arrangement.
