Seed sown of God, born to maraud
the path to power layed;
Harken to its silent call.
and before its violence, fall.
Kneel to this flower blade;
Borne by right, unstopable might
Blossoming
Its foes shall justly fade
Legend speaks of the First Tree, which became one with existence when the Life Entity shed its first tear. It stood tall and proud, the size of a large star, manifesting in the far reaches of space. As it drifted through the darkness of the universe, it pulled stray rocks into its hold, and in time an immense planetary system formed a beautifully intricate orbit around the tree. It's celestial vessels danced around it in their grand harmony and the living energy radiating from the First Tree brought bountiful life to the planets it claimed.
As the tree aged, seed pods formed in its branches, each bearing a wealthy cluster of seeds, and when the tree reached the end of its life, the pods burst, loosing its innumerable children into existence. The wave of offspring became a cosmic meteor shower across the solar system, many seeds landing and taking root upon the hundreds of orbiting worlds, and each quickly growing into mountainous micro-versions of the First Tree itself. In the absence of the First Tree's living energy, its children, the Great Trees, now sustained the life of the planets they harbored.
And as the generation of Great Trees aged, man-sized pods formed in their giant boughs, each bearing a cluster of sword-length seeds, and when the Great Trees reached the end of their lives, the pods burst, showering the planets with explosions of their blade-like offspring.
The release of the Great Trees' children caused a mass extinction of intelligent life on every world in the First Tree's orbit, save one; life on the small moon of Skeithos persisted, as the dominant intelligent species had wisely established itself within the root systems of their Great Tree itself.
This third generation of seeds, however, did not sprout. But nonetheless, their energy filled the roles of their predecessors and persisted the ability of their worlds to sustain life.
The Skeithians, being the last intelligent life in the solar system, soon spread their people to their neighboring worlds, and then the worlds that neighbored those, and soon the Skeithians alone dominated the system.
Until the first warrior discovered the power held within the seeds.
As the warrior pulled a seed from the soil of its world, it accepted him and sprouted. It bloomed into a most magnificent sword, and thus became the herald of the Skeithian Wars.
Through the power of the seeds, and the warriors whom were chosen by them, the Skeithian solar system entered its Age of War. Lasting just over 7 centuries and wiping out nearly all Skeithian life, the war was ended when a rogue champion of champions, The Hunter used his seed blade, the Feral Thorn, to destroy the blade of his foe, and commenced a genocidal initiative to destroy each third generation seed blade, until only his own remained.
With no method left at his disposal able to destroy his own blade, he sealed it once more into its seed-state and thereafter buried the slumbering Feral Thorn, leaving the great weapon to become lost to antiquity, and putting a definitive end to the Age of War. And with the loss of the 3rd generation seeds, the remaining life faded from the Skeithian solar system.
