Backstory:
"The Iliskan are a sentient, reptilian-humanoid race employed as shock troops by the Elysari Empire. Fearsome creatures and efficient fighters, they have replaced any human fighters among the Elysari forces and have allowed the empire to rapidly spread beyond their original borders. It is said that an Iliskan fighter is equal to ten of the strongest human soldiers in battle, but often their strength goes untested – many humans, having never laid eyes upon such a creature before, choose to flee rather than stand and fight against such odds.
The Iliskan are largely considered a manufactured race. Individuals are not born but are created by transforming the body of a human, usually a captured warrior from the opposition, by means of magic powers. The physical transformation is complete and irreversible, in the process granting the transformed significant new strength and physical prowess. Recently transformed Iliskan are then bonded to a human commander, after which the Iliskan may never use his free will again. When not actively under orders form a commander an Iliskan fighter grows as inert as a statue. It is thought that the process that bonds a newly made soldier to his commander destroys the soul."
