So as will happen Walt Kelly tossed little faces into the objects of his Fairy Tale Parade stories. Mostly ones just observing and maybe reacting to the scene. On page 13 of Fairy Tale Parade #1, in the middle of Hans Christian Anderson's ``Thumbelisa'' ... that's what it says, every page, ``Thumbelisa'' ... there was this little tea set in Mole's house. And it had faces. And ... there's just this one cup that's just angry. I assume it's just an errant line or something but you can see, on the bottom of page 13 on https://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=27602 , it's an angry tea cup. It's seen things and has had enough. So I wanted to draw that because who wouldn't?

I can't imagine that Andersen's copyright was still valid by 1950; (United States) copyright terms in the 19th century were 7 to 14 years, and only grew to 28 years in the early 20th century.
I can find a few translations that make her name 'Thumbelisa', although on what basis I don't know. It's tricky translating names at all, though. This might give a hint what book Walt Kelly was writing from, though.
