(Continuation of part 2)
I continued to walk along the bottom of the lake in a back and forth fashion so I wouldn't miss anything (The legendary maritime archaeologist Robert Ballard called this technique "mowing the lawn"). I found the fin cluster and motor mount from a model rocket that had unfortunately crashed into the lake, then saw an object that I thought was a square bobber, which would be interesting in itself. Upon closer inspection of the rectangular object, I couldn't believe my eyes!
IT WAS THE TENDER OF THE DIECAST LOCOMOTIVE I HAD FOUND EARLIER!!
I howled with joy at this miraculous find!
I surmise that when the locomotive had been dropped from the pedal boat, the tender was attached to it. When the locomotive hit the bottom of the lake the tender came uncoupled, and being that the tender is hollow plastic, it shot to the surface, then proceeded to sail like a little ship across the lake, where it washed ashore.
I placed the tender in my finds bag, and headed off to find more toys!
