Yeah, it pains me to see these majestic creatures stuck in an enclosure.
But then one has to realize that the majority of these animals have been abandoned, acquired from illegal owners, or rehabilitated; and this is their second chance at life. There is no way you can release animals that have been imprinted by humans or have been domesticated into the wild. They will simply perish.
So as long as adequate living conditions is provided to the animal, they can serve as an ambassador for their species and have the ability to cause onlookers to have an understanding and empathy towards their wild counterparts.
So, it's not all bad. :P
