Here's the new setup I've made for my tadpoles.
Unfortunately, the first night I lost about half of the tadpoles I brought home. I think the water may have just been too dirty, due to all the mud that was at the bottom, and probably too many tadpoles. The rest of them have done fine since then, I haven't lost any of them so far.
I bought this plastic storage tub at Target yesterday, it works quite nicely for this because its not that tall. I think I have about 2 gallons of water in it. I'm debating putting some kind of circulation pump in it, but I think that might make the water too turbulent for the tadpoles. For now, I'm going to see how they do in this.

That's good information to know if I ever find eggs over there. =) I'm not really too worried about what they are, it'll become clear as they grow. Either way, I'll release them back into the wild when they're full grown, though I might be tempted to keep one or two of them.
No offense meant at all. But I think you should have left them. They weren't guaranteed death where they were, and even so, most frogs and salamanders lay hundreds of thousands of eggs simply because so many of them do die.
The best way to go about caring for tadpoles is to only house them in water you get from their natural habitat. They won't grow very strong or healthy on algae alone, there are many other microscopic organisms they eat in the wild to help them out. Since algae is very plant-like (even without actually BEING a plant), it's nutritional content is limited.
Your setup looks good, although the water seems a bit too clean. I wish you luck with these guys.
