A bit of a gift art for Charu and her character, NightStar!
The tale begins with a peaceful time between Calderin and Visor, giving a bit of insight on their life together. Night eventually falls, and dreams stirre Calderin awake to take a walk. Thing leads to a coincidence happening, from which he meets someone else on a nightly, quiet walk. But the quietness doesn't last, and Calderin has to spring into action for his companion's sake.
Author's note: I would like to thank Charu for allowing me to put her character into one of my stories. Getting to know more about NightStar inspired me to write up this encounter between our characters, which turned out much lengthier than anticipated. I'd also thank her for letting me bother her every so often to help draft the conversations. I don't think they'd been as organic without her input.
Snippet:
Crouched low and with slow, deliberate steps, Calderin walked out into the open pathway she was on, eyes directly on her. He ensured his wings stayed hugged to his body, to indicate he wasn't there for a fight. Some didn't like if you tried to appear bigger either. She shuffled herself, keeping a defensive stance that ensured her front was towards him. “Who are you?” She asked calmly yet stern, seeming ready to growl with her furrowed snout.

This is still a really wonderful tale. Thank you SO much for writing it. I love how you portrayed NightStar's personality. She's a grumpy character but also can be caring deep down.
The mood of the environment shifting and turning, especially during the climax portion was engaging. There was great suspense!
Great work overall and thank you very much again! ^__^
