Luthien Wardrobe Study - Formal/High Court
And now, the big reveal. ^u^ I've been working on this throughout the month and this is only part of what I've finished, but its ready to present and I'm excited to show you guys what I've been doing.
So, remember a while back when I did some outfits for Pachua? Well, I hinted that someday I might do something similar with Luthien if I had time. Earlier this month, I made the decision to put some of my background characters....well, back in the background. lol I feel that I've spent a lot of time and energy focusing on them, while my main OC's get mostly ignored. Personal art was starting to feel like a chore because I was drawing what I thought everyone wanted (or needed) to see, when I was really craving to work on some character building, concept work etc. for Luthien. (I will do more art with Maraschino too but she's had a lot more representation in my art and doesn't have as much backstory to cover.)
I felt sad that my own fursona, my main representation in the fandom, had been so pushed into the margins and it was time to change that. So for this project, I was a bit motivated by that, but also by two artists I follow here who have super cute clothing designs for their characters.
and
. Pandsky has a whole collection of beautiful clothes for her girl Miorjah, and Reika has been doing custom outfit commissions and creating some really amazing pieces! I have loved seeing the work they've been doing, but also its a bit like seeing other girls with fancy dresses for their barbies and wishing you had some for yours. lol I guess that sounds silly but it is what it is. *chuckle* At any rate, the obvious thought was that I'm an artist with decent skill and at least a minor interest in women's fantasy fashion so there was no logical reason why I couldn't be designing stuff for my own character, so here we are. >.>
Anyway, I have had so much fun creating these dresses for Luthien and I feel like I'm finally getting to show her in her proper light. I do plan to make more of these sets as time permits - they don't take me very long to make individually so its just a matter of making enough to compile into a full set. I have a casual set nearly complete and I've also started a set for intimate apparel.
Sidenote: I've not done much with jewelry or hair style/accessories here since designing that stuff specifically would be a whole separate project. Generally, anything with an art nouveau feel or containing designs inspired by nature would fit for her, the possibilities are endless!
A bit of info about this set:
I wanted to start with what most people picture when you mention elven clothing - those gorgeous flowing dresses the elves in the LotR movies wear. The movie costumes provided me a familiar point of reference to design and customize gowns for Luthien, which would tend more towards earthy tones (mostly greens) and leaf, vine, or flower patterns. Her particular brand of elf, the Laiquendi or "Green Elves" were named for their green garb and their closeness to the plants and trees. For Luthien, dresses like these would be worn when in the company of her kin, at high court or when in the city. She probably wouldn't wear these so much at home, opting instead for lighter more comfortable pieces while out roaming the forest.
I have a LOT of ideas for art in the coming months and I'm really excited to share the things I've been brainstorming regarding Luthien's story. (And Pachua's too.) This of course still has to happen in between commissions but I find that when I'm truly interested in what I'm creating the ideas just sort of pour out on the paper and I have a lot more motivation and stamina to work on them. If you'd like to be involved with my personal projects or just see what I'm doing throughout the month I encourage you to join my Patreon - the more support I have there the more time I can spend on stuff like this. :)

I absolutely ADORE the way you draw clothing!! And I love seeing Luthien and hearing about her backstory!
Agh you are absolutely one of my favorite artists and it's always so beautiful to see people draw for themselves in this way! I really look forward to seeing what you have in mind for future projects! (Aaand I am high key thinking about becoming a patron once things stabilize for me a little more!)

Thanks so much, I'm definitely hoping to show more of her story through pictures (writing takes a lot more work for me but I do try to include story blurbs here and there) and concept work like this. :3
And I'd be happy to have you aboard if you can make it over there! :)

THESE ARE ALL SO WONDERFUL. I LOVE the silver rose motif, but the Mallorn leaf (I hope my Tolkien terminology still holds!) design will always have my heart.
I love how the lush greens looks so perfect on her. Im always happy to see art of her, and all these outfits are gorgeous <3 I look forward to more 🌸
Im honored to know you were partially inspired by me ;; ❤ I wanna draw more clothes for my unicorn prince now aaaa

I was hoping you'd catch this, since you helped inspire it. n_n Fantasy fashion is a lot of fun to play with, there's no rules really so you can go all out with whatever theme you like - even within certain guidelines like I had here it can be tons of fun. :3 Make ALL the clothes!
