Yes she is mecha pilot - its her job. And yes she is from the future.

After the death of her mother guardian dragon demigodess, that died due to acumulation of microplastics in her body, there was need to find a new guardian. Sol was chosen, because nobody wanted to do such a dangerous job.

She commisioned a mecha manufacturer on Etsy. She payed the costs thanks to finding an enormous tresure in her mothers cave. The mech design is based on her mother and is aproximatly 100 meters tall. Sol is 1,60 meters tall for comparison. It also serves as her home.

The mech is fully mind operated during combat. Thats quite tiring for Sol so basic off-combat manouvering is also possible through touch panels. The cockpit is nearly indestructible. The only real reason she wears the suit is that the suit is connected on the back to the seat, so no seatbelts are needed. The main reason she wears it because she finds it cool, cos she's hard-core geek, otaku and hobby cosplayer.
