Well, technically round 3, but the original round 2 (a couple Silkies) we had bad luck with in a manner that wasn't our fault, there was nothing we could do to help the poor things and we lost them after a week. It was heartbreaking. The three girls from round 1 are doing well though - and getting big!
My husband was dragged into the idea of having chickens kicking and screaming...but now that we have them, he's gone chicken-crazy. These two girls, currently unnamed, were all his idea. They're Welsummers, a breed that my husband found out about and fell in love with. A local had some extra chicks, so we ended up with a couple of them. Random fact - the rooster on the Kellogg's Corn Flakes box is a Welsummer.
If all five of our girls end up as good layers, we could have up to 25 eggs a week when they all start laying!
