In dee's world, things that are considered paranormal/weird/fantasy had acutally been sealed away for some time. Now and then little things managed to creep out into our world, but nothing major. (faeries, ghosts, etc) and usually ended up being sealed back.
The cause of this was the Sealing of the world tree, Dee was temporarily the holder of the life of the tree, knowing where the tree resided, Dee returned the life back to the tree.
