My half of a trade with
Sempeteu. Done as a way to poke myself into doing something different, and lo, it worked.
First I poked about for a proper background with the idea I had (apparently Rahm, here, really enjoys seafood, but as an otherwise-vegetarian feels really guilty about it). Then I had this idea for some weird lighting in the form of those odd, kitschy red lamps haging along the ceiling. Then as I was coloring it, I realized that, hey, aquariums are lit up, too. Which made for yet ANOTHER challenge, trying to figure out how to pull that off.
I'm not unhappy about the results. I spend way too long on these things, though. More experience with this kinda stuff leads to less "hmmm, okay, I'll try this, oh crap, screwed it up, gotta fix it now".

I remembered your note from earlier and logged on to answer it and by chance caught this on the front page. I blame it on fate.
This came out glorious looking. Poor Rahm, seafood is like drugs to him or something. He tries to quit over and over again, but never really succeeds. Huge blinking neon signs advertising delicious sushi isn’t making things any easier either. I’m sure he ordered extra sake to take the edge off his guilt.
I really like the composition in this one, how Rahm is placed to one side and framed by the red lamps and the burgundy background around the aquarium. It’s probably a weird thing to notice in “furry” art, but it really works. The red tones contrast nicely with his skin as well.
Love how you drew the crocodile himself, I especially like the way you drew the hands (that’s not the hands of a blacksmith, that’s for sure) and the expression on his face.
Thanks a lot, I love it!
PS. For note, my part of the trade is going to be finished as soon as possible. Would you like progress shots for you to critique or do you want to be taken by surprise?

Just letting me see the sketch first would be neat :)
Glad y'like, too! I totally feel his pain on the "delicious seafood" thing. If it weren't for the fact that "regular" sushi is more recognizable (and I trust myself drawing it recognizably), he'd be feasting on eel hand-rolls.
